The true spirit of medicine lies in kindness, care, and helping others. On November 12, Prof. Lehmann, Director of the Department of Trauma Surgery, Orthopedics, and Plastic Surgery at the University Medical Center G?ttingen(UMG), will fly to Shanghai from Frankfurt. Starting November 15, he will attend the 5th Sino-Euro Global Forum on Hospital Management, Specialty Construction and Talent Cultivation 2025 as a presidium member of the forum. During the forum, he will engage in in-depth exchanges with hospital presidents, directors of clinical and administrative departments and outstanding young doctors of Grade III Class A hospitals in China on core topics such as specialty construction, hospital management, and training of internationally leading medical talents. This is not only a high-level dialogue between the Chinese and European medical communities, but also a concentrated reflection of Gloryren’s years of dedication to international cooperation. As a leading figure in the field of trauma surgery in Europe, Prof. Lehmann has served as the Director of the Department of Trauma Surgery, Orthopedics, and Plastic Surgery at the University Medical Center G?ttingen since 2016. Led by Prof. Lehmann, the center has been a Spine Center of Maximum Care certified by the German Spine Society (DWG), a certified Endoprosthesis Center of Maximum Care, a Supraregional Level I Trauma Center, and an AO Trauma Fellowship Host Centers. For three consecutive years, it has been listed among the World’s Best Specialized Hospitals - Orthopedics 2025 by U.S. Newsweek. The close cooperation between Prof. Lehmann and Gloryren has lasted for six years, with frequent, stable and high-quality interactions. In 2019, he visited Guangzhou First People’s Hospital as an international visiting professor for the first time, and has maintained close ties with Gloryren and Chinese colleagues ever since. During the three difficult years of the COVID-19 pandemic, he not only helped train 2 clinical fellows and 2 MD students for Grade III Class A hospitals in China, but also, in April 2020, organized two Sino-German webinars on COVID-19 prevention and control between the multidisciplinary team of the University Medical Center G?ttingen and Grade III Class A hospitals in China, conveying China’s pandemic response experience to Germany. For MD programs, all five MD candidates recommended by Gloryren successfully obtained scholarships from the China Scholarship Council (CSC) with the support and guidance of Prof. Lehmann, achieving a 100% success rate. Two of them have obtained the degree and already returned to China for further career, one is about to complete his studies, and the remaining two will start their new journey of scientific research in G?ttingen in 2025. Behind every achievement lies the efforts and dedication of Prof. Lehmann and his team. Over the past six years, for clinical fellowship programs, eight fellows from Grade III Class A hospitals in China have received systematic training in Prof. Lehmann’s team, covering multiple subspecialties such as trauma surgery, joint surgery, foot and ankle surgery, spine surgery and sports medicine. These fellows have brought the latest concepts and cutting-edge techniques back to China, promoting the development of local hospitals and benefiting patients. In 2019 and 2024, Prof. Lehmann visited Grade III Class A hospitals in China twice as a visiting professor, communicating face-to-face with local surgeons and further deepening the ties between China and Germany. Meanwhile, the team of Gloryren has also visited Prof. Lehmann multiple times for on-site discussions and project follow-ups, ensuring the high-quality implementation of each project. This long-term and stable interaction has gradually developed into a systematic, structured, and sustainable model for talent training and specialty construction. From China to G?ttingen, from MD training to clinical fellowship program, from remote communication during the pandemic to face-to-face in-depth exchanges today, the collaboration between Prof. Lehmann and Gloryren has always been solid, enduring, and of high quality. In the future, both parties will continue to work together to furthre promote the development of Sino-German medical education, scientific research, and clinical care.
