Conference conducted by the Displinary Construction Office of our hospital, together with Gloryren, turned out to be a great success.

Prof. Florian Haasters, Head of Department, Knee, Hip and Shoulder Surgery Schoen Clinic München Harlaching as well as the Associate Professor of LMU, was invited to attend this academic meeting. The Luoyang and Zhengzhou Campuses of HLOH was set as the main venues simultaneously for this event, with over 40 specialists from Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Center attending the conference.

Vice President Cao Xiangyang attended the meeting and delivered a speech. During the welocome speech session, Vice President Cao introduced the history of HLOH and the latest developemnt status of the Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Center to the participants. He said, "In order to promote clinical research and discipline construction, and to build a specialist, distinctive, branded, integrated and international hospital, this conference is honored to invite Prof. Haasters to join the conference and communicate with his Chinese colleagues online. He will discuss with us new ideas on the treatment and development of shoulder surgery, bringing better opportunities for the development of shoulder and elbow surgery in our hospital."

The meeting was moderated by Niu Suling, Deputy Director of the Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Center, with Zhang Chuan, Deputy Chief Physician, acting as the interpreter.

Prof. Haasters presented a talk entitled Reverse Shoulder Arthroplasty for Proximal Humerus Fracture. In the case of complex fractures with displaced proximal humerus, Prof. Haasters believes that the general practice is to retain the stem of the prosthesis and perform RTSA if the tuberosities are considered to be less likely to heal in older patients with complex fractures. Younger patients with higher functional demands and more active needs are still treated with a fracture prosthesis or internal fixation. Prof. Haasters emphasized the importance of preoperative assessment and the need to pay special attention to fracture of scapula or acromion, which may alter the surgical plan, in his lecture, which lasted more than an hour and was detailed and practical.

Afterwards, three main clinic leaders, Zhang Chuan, Ning Fan You and Wang Chun Xi, gave presentations and case sharing sessions on "Chinese way in arthroscopic repair of irreparable rotator cuff tears", "Shoulder prosthesis replacement for shoulder arthropathy" and "Experience in the management of glenoid defects in reverse shoulder replacement" respectively. Prof. Haasters recognized that the team at the Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Centre of Luoyang Orthopaedic Hospital is very skilled and he hopes to meet face-to-face with the Chinese colleagues in the near future.

Zhang Hong, Director of the Displinary Construction Office, concluded her speech. She said, "To create the future together, General Secretary Xi Jinping advocates broadening the path of international science and technology cooperation." General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that international cooperation in science and technology is a major trend, and that it is necessary to adhere to the combination of "bringing in" and "going out", actively integrate into the global innovation network, and comprehensively improve the level of international cooperation in science and technology innovation in China. Director Zhang Hong warmly invited Prof. Haasters to visit the hospital after the COVID-19 pandemic, and the hospital also hopes to send talented young doctors to visit Germany to promote in-depth exchanges between the two sides.

The Sino-German International Video Conference was launched by the hospital to strengthen international exchanges and promote the hospital's discipline construction and talent training to a new level. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has brought a lot of difficulties and presented new challenges to the the work, it has not stopped the pace of academic exchanges in HLOH. We believe that by conducting international academic exchanges, we will be able to better exert the advantageous role of our national regional treatment center and make new contributions to building a healthy Henan and enhancing the health of the citizens.
